An aleatory list of things I have noticed lately.

Despite that birds are illegal as metaphors, here the geese remain in the sky, in their arrows, against the gray. Christmas Day and it’s snowing and the wind has made the dust a golem for us.

I have seen you pull the sleeves of your coat over your hands and hunch your shoulders. You have done this as you walked away from me. I believe it must feel like armor — from without it seems precarious, and provokes a troubling and vigilant sensation.

Last night there were sirens, which upset the dogs, whose howls triggered the coyotes. Far off in the cold desert they haunted the sky.

I came here to forget. Today it felt like it was working. Even now, as I build this for you, I find I have lost the bricks.
